Decals of Hawaii - How to Apply Decals

Please follow these instructions on how to apply decal and stickers to vehicles, vehicle windows, or other smooth surfaces.

White Hawaiian island Decal shown in package.

Application of White Hawaiian Islands decal:

For this step-by-step demonstration, we will be applying a white vinyl decal of the "Hawaiian Islands" on a black surface.

Step One.

Step 1:

Clean area with rag and Denatured Alcohol if you have any. If not, use clean water before applying decal to make sure surface is free of dirt and oil.

Step One - Caution!.

CAUTION: If you use a glass cleaner to clean - be sure to wipe down with clean water on a rag to make sure there is no soap on the surface before you apply decal.

Step Two.

Step 2:

Use masking tape to tape the decal to the location you desire to apply it. Make sure it is straight - you can measure it, or just “eyeball it”.

Step Three.

Step 3:

Use masking tape again to tape all the way across the top of the decal only.

Step Three.

Half of the width of the tape on the surface you are applying the decal to, and half of the tape on the top of the decal to form a hinge.

Step four.

Step 4:

Lift the decal out away from the surface and up to remove the backing paper. The decal should stick to the clear transfer tape.

Step Four.

Peel backing paper 180 degrees - back against itself as shown.

Step Four.

NOTE: Once you have removed the backing paper - be sure to hold decal away from surface until you are ready to lay it back down over the surface carefully.

Step Five.

Step 5:

Hold the decal just above the surface and place the right bottom corner down first.

Step Five.

Step Six.

Step 6:

Then use applicator tool (or credit card) to “squeegee” starting from the top down. Apply firm pressure when using applicator tool and work your way down until all of the decal is applied firmly to the surface.

Step Six.

Step Seven.

Step 7:

Peel off the transfer paper 180 degrees from top down by pulling down at an angle against the surface.

Step Seven.

NOTE: If you pull straight out at 90 degrees from surface - you may accidentally pull off part of the decal from the surface.

Step Seven.

Congratulations

Congratulations!

You did it!

Word of Caution: If you have applied a decal to your vehicle - Wash carefully at first. Don't use HIGH PRESSURE WASHER on decal up close. The decal will need to sit for 3 to 4 weeks until the adhesive cures good to the surface.
